Frequently asked questions
How reports are handled, what the labels mean and what this platform can and cannot do.
- What is ReportCryptoScam?
- A public platform for reporting cryptocurrency scams and checking whether a wallet address, domain, website or entity has already been reported. Reports are structured so that indicators can be searched and compared.
- Who operates ReportCryptoScam?
- ReportCryptoScam is operated by Bitint Inc., a blockchain intelligence company developing technology for blockchain investigations, risk analysis and financial crime intelligence.
- Are reports verified?
- No. Reports are user-submitted intelligence. Some are labelled corroborated when several independent submissions describe consistent details, but that is not the same as independent verification, and no label on this site is a legal finding.
- Does a lack of reports mean something is safe?
- No. An absence of reports only means nothing has been submitted to this platform. New scams, and scams targeting a small number of people, frequently have no reports at all.
- What information should I include?
- Wallet addresses, transaction hashes, domains and URLs, social handles, approximate dates and a clear description of what happened. Structured indicators are the most useful part of a report because they make it searchable and comparable.
- Can I report anonymously?
- Yes. Name, email and country are all optional. A report submitted without contact details is still published and still counts towards an indicator's report history.
- Will my email be public?
- No. Reporter contact details are never displayed publicly. An email address, if you provide one, is used only if clarification about your report is required.
- Can a report be disputed?
- Yes. If you believe a published report is inaccurate you can request a review. Reports under dispute are labelled Under Review while they are examined. [Placeholder: the final dispute procedure and response times are pending legal review.]
- Can authorities use information on the platform?
- Published reports are public and can be read by anyone, including investigators and law-enforcement agencies. ReportCryptoScam is not itself a law-enforcement authority and does not represent any agency. Reporting here does not replace reporting to your national fraud reporting body or police.
- How can I request correction or removal of information?
- Send a request describing the specific content and the correction sought. Requests involving personal data are handled under the privacy policy. [Placeholder: the correction and removal request channel and timelines are pending final legal review.]
- Can you help me recover my funds?
- No. ReportCryptoScam does not offer recovery services and cannot return lost funds. Be extremely cautious of anyone who contacts you claiming they can, particularly if they ask for an upfront payment.
